About the NC Housing Coalition
For more than 30 years, the North Carolina Housing Coalition’s mission has been to ensure that every North Carolinian has a home in which to live with dignity and opportunity. The Coalition convenes, resources, and mobilizes people and organizations to shift the statewide conversation about housing need in order to accomplish long-term systems change at all levels of government.

Position Overview
The Director of Organizing is responsible for forwarding the Coalition’s mission by expanding and organizing the Coalition’s base and connecting and supporting local coalitions across the state to achieve lasting systems change. This position will work very closely with the Executive Director and the Director of Housing Policy.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Growing the breadth and depth of NCHC’s base of support with an eye towards cultivating stronger and more engaged advocates. Strategies will include but are not limited to leveraging the infrastructures of existing organizational members, connecting with and mobilizing existing advocacy coalitions, and training organizers from different organizations to better understand housing policy and advocacy;
  • Build and maintain a system of information, engagement, and tracking alongside the Membership and Communications Officer that is able to operate at a statewide scale;
  • Work closely with the Director of Housing Policy and the Executive Director to develop and pursue the NC Housing Coalition’s policy agenda and strategy, and own the execution of the Coalition’s organizing strategies;
  • Work closely with the Director of Housing Policy on the execution of a statewide legislative day;
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the state to better coordinate common work;
  • Serve as the Coalition’s key liaison for all local housing advocacy efforts;
  • Assist in administrative tasks to support the mission of the Coalition as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in organizing and coalition building required, housing policy or organizing experience a plus;
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively build trusting relationships with various communities represented in North Carolina;
  • Spanish language proficiency a plus;
  • Strong facilitation and project management skills;
  • Ability to translate complex policy information for a broader audience;
  • Ability to do overnight travel occasionally across the state; and
  • Deep commitment to equity as a fundamental value of their work, particularly racial equity.

Other Information:

  • Regular, full-time;
  • Position does NOT need to be based in the Triangle; and
  • Salary range starts at $55,000, based on experience and ability.
