Save the Date: Disaster Recovery Training

The North Carolina Housing Coalition is excited to announce its next Disaster Recovery Training from March 30-April 3 at First Presbyterian Church in New Bern, NC. Once again, NC Housing Coalition’s Association of Housing Counselors (TAHC) has partnered with the National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC) for a week of disaster recovery training designed specifically for housing counselors. Over the course of five days, attendees will learn about the types of government and non-government assistance available for disaster preparedness and recovery and how to best implement these resources for their organizations and clients.

Sixty housing counselors and housing professionals from across North and South Carolina attended the first Disaster Recovery Training in September 2019. In addition to equipping attendees for frontline response to events such as Hurricanes Michael and Florence, the training included proactive strategies to prepare for future storms. The weeklong training featured topics such as housing counselor roles in recovery efforts, outreach planning and activity, and administering a disaster counseling program. “We look forward to putting into practice everything that we learned during the training,” said Roselin Rodriguez-Pinto from Fairweather Family Lodge in Fayetteville.

Registration will open soon. Once again, this training will be free and travel reimbursements up to $300 will be provided. If you have any questions about this event, contact Stacie Darden at sdarden@nchousing.org, or at 919-800-0878.
