IRS Releases 2017 Population Estimates

The IRS released 2017 population estimates on February 27. The population estimates are used to calculate the LIHTC ceiling and tax-exempt private activity bond caps. For a discussion of the impact of the new population estimates, see Michael Novogradac’s analysis.

North Carolina’s population stands at 10,146,788 and grew by 1% from the 2016 population estimate, greater than the 0.7% national average.  We join Texas, Florida, Washington, California, and Arizona as the states with the largest numerical growth.
