NC Housing Coalition Sends Letter to NC’s Congressional Delegation to Protect Housing Investments

On Friday, February 21, the NC Housing Coalition sent a letter to North Carolina’s Congressional delegation urging them to 1) ensure lawfully appropriated housing and community development resources reach their intended recipients, and 2) prioritize housing and community development investments in ongoing budget negotiations. With Federal housing and community development programs under existential threat, it is critical that our representatives know that freezing existing housing funds and cutting future funds is unacceptable for North Carolinians.

More than 300 organizations, community groups, and individuals representing every county in North Carolina signed onto the letter, which you can view below.

Senators Thom Tillis (R) and Ted Budd (R) and Representatives Don Davis (D-1), Deborah Ross (D-2), Greg Murphy (R-3), Valerie Foushee (D-4), Virginia Foxx (R-5), Addison McDowell (R-6), David Rouzer (R-7), Mark Harris (R-8), Richard Hudson (R-9), Pat Harrigan (R-10), Chuck Edwards (R-11), Alma Adams (D-12), Brad Knott (R-13), and Tim Moore (R-14) each received a copy of the letter.

Thank you to those who have joined us in this key piece of advocacy to our elected officials. As we continue to advocate with our North Carolina representatives, we are still collecting signatures to show the broad, widespread support for Federal housing investments in North Carolina. You can sign on here – be sure to check the final box in order to be included on the letter.

If you previously filled out the form but do not see you or your organization’s name listed on the letter, contact policy@nchousing.org to verify your sign on.

Once you sign the letter, there are other ways you can advocate for housing investments in this critical moment. Check out this message from Executive Director Samuel Gunter to learn more about what you can do.
