Since I have been the Executive Director of the North Carolina Housing Coalition, we have been talking about how to live more deeply in our mission to lead a movement to ensure that every North Carolinian has a home in which to live with dignity and opportunity. We have been focusing particularly carefully on the “lead a movement” piece of that mission statement and our responsibility to broaden the movement for housing in North Carolina. That takes time and intention, and we are excited to announce Adrienne Spinner as our new Organizing Director who will help us continue to grow this movement.
Adrienne is a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University, and resides outside of Greensboro. She is a long-time community volunteer, who ran for public office in 2018. She is a passionate advocate for the issues that particularly impact families, women, and people of color — housing, food insecurity, public education, and paid family leave. Adrienne has recently worked with Equality NC and the Carolina Federation, is a gubernatorial appointee to the North Carolina Council for Women, and serves on the Board of Directors for the ERA Alliance. She is a work-at-home mom of 2, and strongly believes in raising her children to be future activists and social justice leaders.
In the coming weeks and months, we look forward to you getting to know Adrienne and to seeing her work take shape as we draw more people into the work of ensuring a safe and affordable home for everyone in the state. Join me in welcoming her by sending her an email at aspinner@nchousing.org.
