DESCRIPTION:Even when working through the current impact of COVID-19\, agencies still must be prepared to respond rapidly and serve survivors should another disaster strike. \nHow does my organization develop plans to prepare for a disaster and mitigate loss? How will my agency deliver existing services\, add disaster-related resources and engage with the community after a disaster strikes? How do we build partnerships with other community stakeholders before\, during and after a disaster? \nThese questions\, among others\, will be addressed in this one-day disaster response training. We will explore strategies and tools housing counseling agencies can utilize to help prepare for each phase of a disaster. DESCRIPTION:Currently\, many homeowners are facing daily difficult decisions between which basic needs to fulfil. Because of the needs of homeowners in the community\, Housing Counseling Agencies have been challenged with adjusting their priority of services to focus on mortgage delinquency and foreclosure prevention counseling. Is your agency capable and ready to provide these services and meet the needs? \nSection 1: Establishing a Foreclosure Ready Agency\nAs agencies respond to the urgent needs of homeowners within their communities\, they must do so while complying with HUD’s expectations. According to HUD’s guidelines\, there are specific elements\, which programs must incorporate when offering mortgage delinquency and foreclosure prevention counseling. \nYou Will Learn: \n\nHUD’s expectation of agencies\nSetting realistic expectations for counselors\nProviding housing counselors with a road map for training and preparation\n\nSection 2: Fundamentals of Foreclosure Counseling\nProviding one-on-one foreclosure prevention and mortgage delinquency counseling is new territory for many new and seasoned counselors. DESCRIPTION:This course was created to make sure the counselor and housing agency are in full compliance with HUD and National Industry Standards for rental counseling. The participant will learn the best practices\, tools and resources necessary to conduct an efficient and effective virtual or in-person rental counseling session. The course will include an activity designed to help them create a strategy to assist our communities post-COVID-19 rental moratorium. The class will be interactive and engaging wrapping up with everyone participating in a mock session. Therefore\, all participants should be prepared to have their cameras and microphones on. \nLearning Objectives:\n1. Effectively use tools for virtual counseling and in-person sessions.\n2. Identify national and local COVID-19 resources to assist clients post rental moratorium.\n3.
